We are proud to announce a very special concert to celebrate the life and music of the legendary musician Jack Bruce, featuring very special guest performances from some of the many artists and musicians that Jack worked with throughout his extensive career.

The concert will take place at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Tuesday 25 October, a date that marks the two year anniversary since the passing of the hugely influential Cream bassist. All proceeds raised will be donated to Nordoff Robbins and Jack’s favourite local charity, East Anglian Children’s Hospices.

From his early days with Alexis Korner (Blues Incorporated), Graham Bond (Graham Bond Organisation) and John Mayall (Bluesbreakers), to his major success with Cream, and his many subsequent bands and collaborations with some of the world’s greatest musicians, we will be taking a musical journey through the life and legacy of an iconic man.

Cream was the seminal 1960s band that Bruce formed with guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker, whom along with co-writer Peter Brown, penned many of their songs, including one of the most spine-tingling riffs of all time, Sunshine Of Your Love, to I Feel Free and White Room. A band full of staggering musicianship and technical proficiency, they sold millions of albums during their four-album career, with a host of other artists covering Bruce’s songs from Jimi Hendrix to David Bowie, and his huge lasting influence lives on in many more.

After Cream split in November 1968, Bruce went on to enjoy enormous success with solo recordings, jazz and blues fusion albums and was part of the blues-rock trio with Leslie West and Mountain drummer, Corky Laing. Cream reformed for the 1993 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony and again for a four-night stand at the Royal Albert Hall in 2005 and Madison Square Garden in New York. He spent the latter part of his life working with the likes of Robin Trower, to John Medeski and Vernon Reid, combining his love of blues, rock and jazz.

The musical direction and curation of ‘An Evening For Jack’ is by English poet Pete Brown and Jack’s son, Malcolm Bruce. “This will be a celebration and a musical journey through my father's life” says Malcolm. “His musical interests were diverse, but through it all shines his personality, his individual approach to song writing and his trailblazing abilities as a bass player, singer and improviser. His love of the blues, rock, classical, jazz, Indian and 'World’, his openness as a musical personality and the sheer joy he had with music in the moment. We will be taking a walk through the major aspects of Jack's career, from the early days touring with bands like the Graham Bond Organisation, through to Cream and beyond.”
